Over the past couple of months, close friends and associates of Capt Kamil have been entertained and at times, mesmerized by some of the most informative and revealing accounts of what is happening to the aviation industry in general and Malaysia Airlines in particular. Capt Kamil's take on flying and the flying machines and what it means to be a pilot is more than enough to quench the thirst of anyone looking for pointers to take up flying as a meaningful and successful career.
His vivid and grisly details of all the aircraft accidents in the country plus a bonus issue on the world's worst aviation disaster and the recent fatal crash of Sriwijaya Air is truly an eye opener. These are insightful stories not available elsewhere.
His responses to local and international theories on MH 370 is structured to enable the readers to gain a balanced view of what could have happened to the fateful flight. Kamil is perhaps the only serious writer, despite the novice that he is, who is attempting to find a closure to the biggest aviation mystery the world has ever witnessed.
Now, Capt Kamil has compiled everything he has written on Malaysian Aviation into a book, aptly entitled Malaysian Aviation - The Untold Stories. In it, you will find all of the above plus a lot more of previously unpublished materials, all sensibly and thoughtfully arranged in 52 chapters. Never in the history of Malaysian Aviation has anyone written a book as comprehensive as this, covering most of the vital and important aspects of the industry.
When and where did aviation start for Malaysia, what happened to the National Airline, where it is going and what is likely going to happen to it are all covered. Even the fate of the six superjumbo jets the Airbus A 380, is discussed at length in the book.
People seldom want to talk about the industry regulators, more so if they are an outsider. Kamil who has been working closely with the CAAM (formerly DCA) for over twenty years, gives more than just glimpses of the Regulator. He has some strong recommendations for an even more effective and efficient CAAM.
In between the more serious and highly instructional articles you will also find some hilarious and lighter moments eg. when Kamil donned a full baju Melayu complete with sampin and songkok and deputised as a flight steward, serving snacks and candies to the delight of the passengers.
There are pointers in the book too that would guide one to achieve excellence in whatever one is doing and in so doing, become a better person.
This book is a must read for anyone wanting to live the rightful life of a real human.
Don't miss it.
